From June 10 through July 15, I wrote about the matches, the players, and general melodrama that were World Cup 2014, for Victory Journal and Kinfolk’s Victory Clubhouse. The Clubhouse was an actual venue in Brooklyn, where I ended up spending many sunny days in front of a very large projections screen.
Here are the Group Previews, written before the tournament started (note the uncanny, almost clairvoyant, predictions).
Once the action started, I posted 25 matchday recaps/analyses.
And, after the US went out of the tournament in the round of 16, I published a spirited defense of American soccer/football culture, in response to much dimwitted mainstream media commentary, combined with an action plan for Team USA.
I am now suffering major withdrawal symptoms. Thank the sporting gods for DVR and the Tour de France.
